The 2014 North Carolina Extension Master Gardener Conference, Picture the Piedmont, invites you to come enjoy the beauty and the bounty of Piedmont North Carolina in early May.

The conference officially opens Monday evening with an informal reception at the Red Barn at Tanglewood Park and a self-guided tour of the park’s Arboretum and Gardens. But please come early for one of the optional pre-conference tours and workshops offered during the day on Monday.

We’ll get down to business with advanced training all day Tuesday and continuing Wednesday morning with a variety of general and concurrent educational sessions that promise to boost your enthusiasm and expand your gardening knowledge.

Keynote Speakers

Joe Lamp'l

A nationally known speaker and environmental steward, Lamp’l is the author of “The Green Gardener’s Guide” and host of the popular PBS series “Growing a Greener World.” His entertaining and insightful presentation of the same name will be the highlight of the conference banquet on Tuesday, May 6.

Dr. Robert E. Lyons

Dr. Robert E. Lyons is professor of landscape horticulture at the University of Delaware but is known to many North Carolina gardeners for his years as director of the J.C. Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh and on the faculty at NCSU. Lyons will speak twice during the conference, at the opening general session on Tuesday, May 6, and at the closing luncheon Wednesday.
